Red Plastic Bag has once again been crowned calypso king of Barbados. Singing to a capacity crown, RPB stirred up the audience first with Home Drum and Something's Happening.

Edwin Yearwood has won this years People's Monarch competition with 82% of the vote with Middle uh de Road, beating Mikey with I in Dat. Among his prizes are $25,000 a Digicel phone and car insurance.

Today's Nation Newspaper is reporting that calypsonian Smokey Burke has been admitted to hospital for a condition that is affecting his jaw, which some patrons at last Friday night's semi-finals noticed. On examination, his doctor recommended that he be admitted to the QEH immediately for treatment.
