The names of the Sweet Soca 16 semi-finalists were announced and songwriter Mr Dale and 2 tents have performed exceptionally well. For Mr Dale, who penned songs for 5 of the semi-finalists, it was a double celebration as he is from Headliners, 1 of the 2 tents that took the majority of the spots. The other tent is De Digicel Big Show.

Out of these artistes, who were chosen from 65 entries, 7 finalists will be chosen via a text messaging which will commence on midnight July 6th and close on July 15th. They will then move on to the finals where they will face the reigning monarch TC and be judged on Performance (50), Melody (20), Lyrics (20) and Presentation (10).
The winner of the Sweet Soca competition will have a battle with the winner of the Party Monarch competition, which is the second part of the new Soca Royale competition. The winner of this third battle will be chosen via texts (30 per cent) and a panel of six judges (70 per cent), which will be made up of the chief judges from both the Sweet Soca and Party Monarch judges and two others from each group. Leslie Lett and Winston Farrell will pull the names of two judges on the actual day of competition.
They will be vying for a brand new, fully loaded Kia Coupe, valued at $89 900, from the competition’s major sponsor McEnearney Quality Inc.
These events will take place on July 25th at Bushy Park in St. Philip.
